Attendance

Regular school attendance is essential for children to benefit fully from the educational opportunities available. Absences should only occur in cases of illness or unavoidable medical appointments.

If other circumstances require your child to be absent, you must discuss these with the Headteacher in advance. Whenever your child is absent, you must inform the school of the reason.

Report your child's absence:

• Send a message via the Arbor app
• Email the school at office@hawthorns.school
• Call the school office before 9:00am on the day of absence on 01903 268174

Please ensure that you report your child’s absence on each day of illness for it to be considered for authorisation. If the school does not receive a satisfactory explanation for an absence, it will be recorded as unauthorised. This is in accordance with school attendance legislation.

Holidays Requests:

Term time holidays will not be authorised unless there are exceptional and compelling circumstances. All requests for absence need to be in writing within two weeks of the requested absence. Requests for absence should be made prior to any booking.
