Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Our latest Family Friday was an amazing magic show from magician David Croucher (https://davidcrouchermagic.co.uk) featuring scarves that changed colour, balls that appeared and disappeared, and a newspaper that was torn into pieces then magically made whole again. We LOVED it!
This month's Family Friday celebrated 100 years of Disney with an event that included a showing of the 1928 Steamboat Willie (which marked the debut of Mickey Mouse and was one of the first cartoons with a synchronised sound track). We also had a whole variety of Disney / animation themed activities including flip books, zoetropes, stop motion animation, jungle book creatures and 'do you wanna build a (marshmallow) snowman?'
2023-24 Family Fridays are off to a brilliant start thanks to karting from https://trackstars.fun.
We had 94 children this evening (we know because that is the number of melody pop lollies handed out… you can probably imagine the resulting noise!!) including all ages from nursery to big brothers and sisters now at secondary school coming back to visit.
in addition to karting and melody pops, there were also moving paper toys to make whilst waiting for turns on the karting track.
The first Family Friday of the summer term saw a return of the orienteering challenge; with runners competing for the ‘fastest family / group’ trophy and medals for the quickest time in each year group.
We also had a giant orienteering maze on the field for every class to have a try at during the school day.
(If you enjoyed the orienteering, see https://www.southdowns-orienteers.org.uk/ for local events and free training organised by Southdowns Orienteers who very kindly loaned us all of the electronic timing kit).
This year’s Family Fridays kicked off with a return visit from the brilliant Bintems Crazy Golf.
The helter-skelter was definitely voted the most satisfying hole in one!
Our latest Family Friday was all themed around bubbles… giant bubbles, square bubbles, bubble prints, wubble bubbles, bubble timers, bubble wrap stomp… even the snacks and drinks had bubbles in (and some of us had to be able to explain how the bubbles got there before we were allowed to taste them!)
May’s Family Friday was a fabulous display of birds of prey from local falconers Hawking About. Kevin explained lots of interesting information about his hawk, falcon and owls and we loved it when the falcon wanted to sit on people’s heads and the naughty barn owl took off for a tour of the school!
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
