Our relationship with parents is built upon open, two-way communication between home and school. We welcome the contributions parents make and recognise the value that this has on improving our school further. We carry out our own annual survey and often seek views of more specific issues during the course of the year. The feedback from parents following the school closure as a result of Covid-19 for example, was invaluable for shaping our provision of remote learning and beneficial to all our stakeholders.
Ofsted's Parent View online survey allows parents and carers to express their views about the school at any time of the school year. By 'parents' they mean any person with parental responsibility for a child at the school. It is used as the main mechanism for parents to give their views to inspectors at the time of a school inspection but is also encouraged by the school to be used to give views on the school at other times.
The Ofsted Parent View was updated in September 2019 to reflect the new inspection framework.
The survey asks parents to respond to 14 statements and questions.
Unless otherwise specified above, all the answer options to the statements are:
For statement 4, ‘My child has been bullied and the school dealt with the bullying quickly and effectively’ parents can also select ‘My child has not been bullied’.
For statement 6, ‘When I have raised concerns with the school they have been dealt with properly’ parents can select ‘I have not raised any concerns’.
Once a school has received 10 survey responses, the information will be available to view in Ofsted Parent View for schools, parents and carers and the general public.
If our school is notified that Ofsted is inspecting it, we will send you a letter about the inspection, with a link to Parent View. We will also send an email message to parents whose email addresses we have on our records. Ofsted asks parents to submit their views by 11am, if possible, on the first day of the two-day inspection, so that inspectors can consider all online responses that are submitted at the time.
To complete the questionnaire, you simply need an email address and a password to register. Once your login has been activated, it only takes a few minutes to answer the 14 questions/statements about the school. This is useful to us as it gives valuable information about what you think of the school and helps us to improve. Please remember, you can give your opinion of the school through Parent View at any time during the school year. At the time of an inspection, you can refresh or resubmit your views and the facility will overwrite your previous response so that only one 'view' of each parent, per school, is held.
If you do not have a computer or an email address or you would like help to use Parent View, please come into school and ask at reception.
